CAIRO, EGYPT / RankWire.AI / – Remittances from Egyptians working abroad reached about $29.7 billion in the first seven months of 2026. The Central Bank of Egypt said inflows rose 28.1% from about $23.2 billion during January through July 2025. The figures cover money sent home by Egyptians employed overseas. They provide the latest official reading for the 2026 calendar year. The latest total is about $6.5 billion above the amount recorded in the same seven-month period of 2025.

July alone brought in about $4.5 billion, up 20% from roughly $3.8 billion in July 2025. The monthly result followed increases reported earlier in the year. January remittances reached about $3.5 billion, rising 21% from $2.9 billion a year earlier. February inflows totaled about $3.8 billion, up 25.7% from $3.0 billion in February 2025. January and February together contributed about $7.3 billion to remittances recorded during the 2026 calendar year.
On a fiscal-year basis, remittances reached about $47.3 billion in 2025/2026. That total was 29.6% higher than the $36.5 billion recorded in fiscal 2024/2025. June 2026 inflows stood at about $4.2 billion, compared with $3.6 billion in June 2025. That marked a 15.6% increase. The fiscal-year increase amounted to about $10.8 billion. The fiscal-year data cover July 2025 through June 2026, while the new $29.7 billion total covers January through July 2026.
Remittance inflows sustain double-digit growth
The Central Bank of Egypt also reported a record $41.5 billion in remittances during calendar year 2025. That was 40.5% above the approximately $29.6 billion sent home in 2024. The gain amounted to about $11.9 billion in dollar terms. During the first half of fiscal 2025/2026, remittances reached about $22.1 billion. The comparable figure a year earlier was $17.1 billion, giving the six-month period a 29.6% increase.
December 2025 remittances reached about $4.0 billion, up 24% from $3.2 billion in December 2024. The bank identified that amount as a monthly record at the time. By January 2026, cumulative fiscal-year inflows had reached $25.6 billion, up 28.4% from $20.0 billion. Through February, the total rose to about $29.4 billion, compared with $23.0 billion a year earlier. That represented a 28% increase for the eight-month fiscal period.
Official data show higher inflows across reporting periods
The cumulative gains continued into the spring. Remittances for July through March of fiscal 2025/2026 reached about $34.9 billion, up 32% from $26.4 billion. By April, the ten-month total climbed to about $39.2 billion, 33.2% above the $29.4 billion reported a year earlier. April alone generated about $4.3 billion, a 44% increase from $3.0 billion in April 2025. The monthly gain amounted to about $1.3 billion in absolute terms.
By May, fiscal-year remittances had reached about $43.1 billion, rising 31.2% from $32.8 billion in the comparable period. May inflows totaled about $3.9 billion, up 13.5% from roughly $3.4 billion a year earlier. The 11-month total was about $10.3 billion above the prior-year period. The fiscal year then closed at $47.3 billion before July pushed the 2026 calendar-year total to $29.7 billion. Across the latest official releases, both cumulative and monthly figures remained above their year-earlier comparisons.
